    Taskalfa 6500i Doc feed feed skew

    Hi all,

    We have a few customers with Taskalfa 6500/8000i machines that skew originals on paper feed through the document feeder. I have found that it gets worse the more you put through.
    Has been a issue from new.
    Any suggestions? I cannot seem find any bulletins on this.
    PS.. Both customers are solicitors.

      There is a bulletin on it. The belt gets damaged due to the drive pulley it sits on. If it's damaged replace it asap, and replace the drive pulley (COLLAR PF C) which now has different shape.

      Use the new part number, and also make sure it has the latest firmware.

          I was a little unimpressed with the mod. After a little investigation I thought that the plastic holder is just too flexible, and the belt tracks off one side or the other.

          What I did was measure the length of the feed belt loop, at the edges. The one edge of the belt was a full 1.25mm shorter than the other, even with the mod. Then I cut a strip of paper 6mm wide, and accordion folded it into a cube 6mm x 6mm x 6mm. Then I inserted the cube under the tension spring on the short side.

          The resulting measurement was 0.5mm too long on the shimmed side, so I removed my shim and tore off a few squares. After 4 attempts, I got the left and right side of the loop to be exactly the same length, and it tracks perfectly. The only drawback that I anticipate is the next tech that has to change DP rollers throws away the paper shim, not knowing what it's for.

              Hmm will have a play with that self mod you tried there. I also think that it already has the modified collar on it, but will verify that on my next reply. Thx all.

                  I believe the belt system you guys are showing was used prior to the 6500i. The tension on the belt is fixed on these models & not adjusted by springs.

                          Agreed. Those pics are not on a 6500. However there are two short springs either side of the belt assembly. I have cut both springs one loop shorter and tested it. So far it seems to have done the trick. Customer is now fully loading feeder tray and not a single piece jammed or skewed.
