Oki C711 black alignment troubles

    [CQ] Oki C711 black alignment troubles

    Black print is out of alignment and characters are running over each other. Colors are fine. See photos.

    It does this on internal test pages as well as computer generated.

    I'm thinking maybe DC Controller or Black LED array, maybe formatter.

    Suggestions Please.

      Black is the reference for color calibration, but that's immaterial since it's not a color registration issue. It's a drum drive issue, causing compressions and blurs. I think I'd start by checking the drum drive, then replacing the black drum unit (Okidata 44318504, TYPE C1). =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          Try resetting the led cables..WITH THE POWER OFF!!!!!!!!!!.Might need new cables or PCB.

              no I agree with Blackcat .... drum or drum drive gear.... LED would produce voids.. not scrunched text

                  I have had this before...many times.Worked on a 610 just today with same problem.This is a letter legal machine.paper is fed wrong way for the motor or drum to cause this problem.

                      doesn't have a DC Controller separate nor formatter the CU/PU is all one board CU = Control Unit / PU = Print Unit.... so you will be spending a good amount of money on it EVEN if you are an ASP.

                          looks like your colors on test pattern sheet aren't in line with the boxes... wish I had one of those units here at my shop to confirm. Have you run color alignment anyways? what lifes are left on consumables?

                              have you swapped LEDs around? swapping LED's will tell you if it is the LED.

                              i think on this model you can even swap drum/toner to a different slot.. that way you eliminate the drum unit

                              MOST Oki LEDs hold a 5 year warranty on them.
