HP M880 unable to detect size from flatbed

Hi There, I have several M880s that won't automatically pick up the paper size when scanned from the glass and the paper size will have to be selected. When scanning from the ADF there are no issues and the paper size is picked up automatically.
Was curious to see if anyone else has had this issue as you can imagine it is rather annoying constantly selecting the paper size.
    Thanks in advance

I think you should clean the internal section of the scanner, glass, photosensors, lamp, white detector.

The flag that detects when the DF is closed, gets slammed to death. With the DF up it is in the center in the rear scanner top cover. Getting it out is considerably more difficult. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
