Konica Minolta bizhub C368: Driver based bypass tray setting

    Hello everybody.

I hope this is the place to ask. I am really hopeful someone knows what I am talking about.

I am trying to set up a bizhub C368 so that our staff can print sticky labels without having to know about paper types, as to them, a printer represents the final enemy.
My ideal goal would be that they
    • stick one sheet of labels into the bypass tray,
    • select a named preset when printing that sets the paper tray to bypass and also thick1+.
    • print using that preset.

The problem I am facing is that no matter what settings I change, the print job always errors and waits for them to select a tray, as there is no suitable paper reported.

I thought that the setting "Bypass Tray Overwrite Settings for Print PC" Web Management Tool
would do precisely what I envisioned, meaning that the printer just assumes whatever paper specified in the printer driver to be present in the bypass tray. Am I understanding this incorrectly?

Is my plan even feasible? If not, how would you handle such a situation?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Further Information (I will try to provide everything you may still need asap):
    Bizhub C368
    Function Set 4.0
    PC-410 paper tray
    A7PU0Y0-F000-GC3-W4
Printer is network attached using ethernet
Printing from MacOS 14.4.1 using the official printer driver v10.4, but also tested from Windows 10 using driver v11.2.0.0
We are only using the most basic functions of this device. No Secure Print or similar.

If you never run anything else from the bypass, set the default paper type on the bypass tray (in the copier's settings) to think1+ by default. That way when they shove the labels in it will auto set that on the tray.

+1 on this & also enable auto paper select in paper tray settings & add the bypass tray as an paper source option.

Re: Konica Minolta bizhub C368: Driver based bypass tray setting

Thank you, Duplicator and copier tech.

That is precisely what I've ended up doing. I am not 100% sure what and how they print from the bypass tray, but for now this seems like a good solution.
I am however now really curious about that setting I mentioned in the OP. Do any of you know what it does, perchance?
Here is the quote from the online manual:
When printing data from a computer using the Bypass Tray, you can put the settings configured in the printer driver ahead of the paper size and paper type for the Bypass Tray that are specified on this machine. To prioritize the settings configured in the printer driver, select [System Settings] - [Bypass Tray Overwrite Settings for Print PC] in the administrator mode, then set [Bypass Tray Overwrite Settings for Print PC] to [Driver Priority] (default: [Driver Priority]).
Somehow my reply got lost in the queue for approval. I hope there won't suddenly be two replies now.
