OCE TDS 320 Problem: Gray background

    Hello all:

I really need some advice, direction or help about a TDS 320 a Wide format plotter.

The unit is about 1 year old, and since the beginning it has some problem with tonner. It wasted too much tonner, but prints are ok.

Two months ago it started to fail. It makes ugly noises and keep conditioning all day long.
The local tech service recommend us to change many parts due to normal usage:
    2999802 CORONA WIRE ASSY
    2912651 CLEANING BLADE ASSY

    1060009321 PACKED PHOTOCONDUCTOR
    1060015221 CHARGING ASSY
    7045011 DEVELOPER D5

To keep the TDS320 healthy we changed all those parts (a lot of $$$ here). But it doesn't work, and keeps getting problem. Again the tech comes and now it determines that the problem is a sensor:
    7078399 ADJUSTED SENSOR

Neither to say that this also didn't worked out. Now it prints, but with a gray background, as it is overexposed.

Now they are "selling" me some voltage problem on some board:
Grib PBA, Low - Volt PBA, High Voltage PBA

It is correct? It isn't? The Plotter is out for 2 months (too much for the company

i do agree with the things changed except 1060009321 PACKED PHOTOCONDUCTOR and 2912651 CLEANING BLADE ASSY
. You haven told how much meters the machine has run.

Did the tech run any adustments on the controller after replacing the parts.
Is he a certified tech .

From the begining if your machine is spilling out toner . it could be developer need change. You have done that.

    .
a machine is only as good as your tech : source:screwtape ; the scary one

You might want to get a second opinion. I would think the charging assembly would not need replaced being that the corona wire is part of that assembly. However if they did replace the charging assembly then you have been double charged somehow. Also Background could be caused by a variety of things many of which can be resolved by a very through cleaning. Additionally if the developer adjustment is not performed correctly the machine may overtone.

Comparing the technical problem you described with the same actual problem we resolved, the most probable root cause is the initial symptom observed:

High toner usage - waste toner bag is full after the use of one bottle of toner.

Defective part/s - 02PBA01 Grid PBA with P/N 5583923 (located in the charging assy but being sold separately).

If this left unresolved, it will result to frequent "Conditioning" message and eventually to developer loss.

Provided no other corrective maintenance parts and preventive parts were consequently damaged, replacing the grid PBA and the developer (the corresponding adjustment procedure is a must) should be sufficient.

            Solution?

Did you ever get this solved?

We have a customer with the same issue and it's 2 weeks offline now and we have pretty much been working fulltime on in.

Oce experts are scratching their head and don't know what to do.

After replacing many of the parts listed in the first post we are now getting

            - horizontal bands equally distanced apart
            - 'very' faded image on the print
            - grey background (smudgy), not solid grey on entire page.

            Any help would be great.
            Dan
