    Noisy Printheads/Laserunits

Until now I always replaced noisy Polygon Mirror Motors in Printheads/Laserunits.

Unfortunately at the time I face several BW Bizhub 350's with noisy laser motors. They are coming in abundance like rotten apples falling from a tree. Only last week I had three in a row.

Did anybody have experience with cleaning the mirror shafts and bushings and slightly (VERY slightly) relubing the shaft of those noisy mirror motors? I tried one which is working fine until now but I have no long time experience yet. I believe that this problem is not limited to KonicaMinolta but will be broadly among all brands using the same technology.

On HP LJ4 and LJ2200 printers, I've been cleaning the shaft, then taking a single drop of oil, wipe most of it off, then the remaining on the shaft. These HP's will go any where from 4 months to a year, before actually needing the laser replacement.

I've never been into the KM laser units, so I can't tell you if the polygon mirror assembly will slide off the shaft. Some won't. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

They do. There's a tiny bracket under the mirror disc itself which keeps the rotor from spinning off. This bracket has only one screw to remove than you can take the rotor off. I did as you did: cleaned the shaft and bushing with alcohol and than a minuscule dot of oil the size of a speck of fly poop.
