OKI C9600 Top Cover Open Error 310

I am getting the top cover open message on a OKI C9600 with error 310. Can anyone tell me exactly where the top cover switch is ? Can it be bypassed if broken ? I cannot see anything physically wrong with it but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

    Thanks

    Special Delivery!

I had a similar experience on a 5200. This is quite a funny story.

The printer had been shipped from a Florida office to Michigan. I would have liked to been there for this part: The UPS driver found the box a little heavy to lift, so he rolled the box end-for-end all the way across the parking lot, all the way across the lobby. The same with printer #2.

You can imagine the kind of condition the machines were in. Both top covers were shattered into several pieces. All the LED assemblies on #1 were busted, the end pins on all the developing/drum units of #2 were all broken off, on and on and on. When I powered up #1 it gave a 310 code. The microswitch had moved close enough to the frame to short the terminals and blow out the 24vdc interlock circuit on the controller.

In the end, I made one printer from the two + ~$700.00

    Oh, and thanks UPS.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I am hoping there is some way round it as it wont be worth spending the $ on a new controller as I am just using this as a test machine for refilling toners. I till cannot find the microswitch. Can anyone tell me exactly where it is or would you have a photo ?

Sorry, my C9600 manual is corrupt-won't open.

The front door microswitch is in the front right corner inside the engine controller box. You might have a bad microswitch. You might have a broken actuator in the top cover, or you might have a blown circuit on the engine controller. Since the manual won't open, I can't be positive, but I think this is the doorswitch: 42693501 Cover Switch.
