    2310 Fuser Webs

Has anybody else had issues with the Panasonic 2310 fuser webs dripping oil? When about 3/4 of the web is used up the web oil starts to drip from it and because the drum and developer units are under the fuser the oil tends to get into them and create a big mess. It's not usually too big of a deal but I was wondering if anybody else has had this issue and maybe had a solution to the problem.

I have noticed this also on the DP-8035. I just mop up the extra oil. I don't ever remember it causing any issues....yet.

I see it alot. Canons have always done it. If your machines sit idle for long periods of time before going into power save mode, the oil teds to cook out of the web. If you can get away with it try shortening energy saver time. 8060 and 6030 type machines fuser jam alot if idle long times.

That design is a train wreck to begin with. They finally came out with a retrofit, only took them about 6 years....lol

mojorolla: I've haven't had any issues with the 80 or 60 series fuser webs leaking oil and if they did it I doubt would cause any issues anyway. The only reason why it matter's with the 23 series is because the fuser is above the drum and dev. units and it sometimes gets into them and clumps up the toner in the units. And I'll admit that the design is not the best, but after working with them for so long I guess I've just gotten used to dealing with them. I even enjoy spending two hours rebuilding the fuser units. I must being losing it... lol

sostek: I don't think the problem is caused by idle times. The webs seem to start oozing oil when they're about 3/4 used up but I agree they'll start to jam if they sit for a really long time.

          Thanks for the responses guys.

We had issues when I started in the company, but it was only occurring in certain tech's territories. We discovered that some techs were standing the webs on end in their car stock, those of us that were keeping the webs horizontal have had no issues. Now that we all carry our webs horizontally, we have had no more problems with our webs leaking oil.

By George I think that's it! I'll start carrying fuser webs horizontally from now on. It'll be awhile before I know if that really is the cause but it most likely is. Thanks Logged-on (ha, that's a good one).
