Panasonic drums are eating us up. We can get them apart to refurb but need to know if they can be rechipped.

The DP-C machine drums can be reset in service mode. However, once the surface of the OPC reaches a certain amount of wear, it will have to be replaced. As for rechipping, I have never heard of this on these machines.Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!Comment

Yes. In F8, drum counter reset. you can also reset the fuser belt, fuser main unit, str counter, belt counter....note: if you just reset the belt counter, or fuser unit counter -> after 3 resets, mc will trigger a 720k PM req'd....... all u need to do is just reset IT exch and the one above it, the pm light will go away.
I have been resetting the counters all the time, as the part can last longer than what they rated..... drum units normally last about 50k +/- 5k depends on what people print and how pickie they are. fuser unit last avg of 400k easy, belt ~400k as well, as long as cleanig blade is good, str <- never replace unless it is physically damaged!Comment

Because the Black drums are much less expensive then the color drums our company uses the black drums for the color. From what I understand Densigraphix has a description on how to modify the drums so they will fit in the color drum slots. You need to drill a hole in the metal plate on the front side of the drum unit to create a hole for a pin to pass through. Also sometimes when replacing these units there's a flag on the back of the drum units make sure the flag is flipped up. Other tips, we use a punch to make a dimple on the rear side for the shaft of the drum to prevent the drum from sliding backwards on the shaft which can cause the drum to freeze. Also we've been super gluing the toner augers to the gears as it seems they sometimes slip out of the gear causing the toner to back up in the drum units.Comment
