    [CQ] DP 8060 copy quality

I have a few questions for you Pana Gurus.

Should Digital Quantum be on or off? I am in Georgia.

Is there a good range for F6-21 to be in? I know that more negative is less toner. I guess I'm looking to see if this reading could tell me if I am way out of wack. Or is there another reading I should be looking at?

I looked but could not find how to manually add toner to the developer. Or is this possible?

Now as to why I am asking. First of all I am new to the Panasonics. I have an 8060 in the shop that has 200k on the dev and 70k on the drum. A few weeks ago I cleaned the drum. It had toner specs adhered to the drum. Copies/prints were ok after that. Now they are light/blotchie. Like moisture in the paper although that is not the problem. I have attached a sky shot in hopes it will show what I have.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.SB-10-J50_Deformed_LeverPlate-(M-0210i)__DP-8060Series.pdf

Run the F1 memory test pattern; the checkered one. If that looks good, then I would trouble shoot the optics. If not.....

On the 80xx series, I leave the Quantum on. On the older 35xx,45xx,and 60xx series, I always turn quantum off. If you do a DV change, run F8-09. This will set the density level and also give you a value for f6-21. After I do that, I change the value to -35. I have found this works very well for these machines and have few problems. Once you change the value, run 150-200 dark copies and the density will increase and should stabilize. If the drum was that covered, check the laser slit glass above the drum unit, could have gunk on there too. And with all Panasonic, make sure your 3 wires are new (cheap and easy), and the charge grid and corona are not dirty or damaged. You could also check the sensor under the drum and make sure it is clean or check the DV doctor blade gap.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

Thanks Mojo. Not sure on doctor blade gap. It has been a long time since I needed to adjust one. Back then they (Ricoh) had specs and a gauge to use. I have seen where other post indicated adjustment of the doctor blade gap. I have checked several manuals and cannot find anything. Can you elaborate on this adjustment? What do you use for gauges? What are the specs for the diffrent machines? Thanks again.
