Re: MP C4503 with intermittant SC672-12 code
Wow,
Most of that is out of reach for me price wise. But I have a friend here in town that can help me with this one.
I will look into getting that USB cable, I may be able to afford that.
Right now I have an install at risk for network issues.
Thanks for all the replies, I'm sure I will need all I can get.

Re: MP C4503 with intermittant SC672-12 code
I had this issue with a 02 series 4 months ago, machine had 1m prints on it and what happened was the 3 legged main power switch that is located in the rear behind the PS was filled with toner, this caused the machine to not shut down correctly. Took apart the switch and cleaned it out, problem has not come back. This machine also had boards replaced a 6 month prior to me seeing it for the same issue. The tech who takes care of this machine told me he would go there every other month just to reset this code and that it would take multi power resets for it to come out of the code.Comment

Re: MP C4503 with intermittant SC672-12 code
Brianneoe,
That sounds like it is worth trying, once I can get into the machine.
The dealer they bought this machine came by and said they wanted to upgrade the firmware.
After they left the customer could not print to their machine nor could they get into the admin
area for the network settings. The customer pointed out that the IP address had changed.
And it seems like the put in a password for service mode.
Anyone know the backdoor?

PS they also put the lock on the the 6002 I am servicing.Comment

You can clear the admin password in the special SP mode 143Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

Re: MP C4503 with intermittant SC672-12 code
Just last week I had a MPc5503 with the SC672-12 code. I tried updating the firmware, replacing the USB cable, and using the Ricoh "Flow Chart" TSB to find the source of the SC. I ended up replacing the Controller and memory DIMM and that seems to have taken care of the problem.

Re: MP C4503 with intermittant SC672-12 code
MitchD,
Thank you for your input. I'm sure I will be reviewing all of this great information soon.
Meanwhile, I was able to get into the machine and reset the admin code and accidently
wiped out their address book. I did repair the doc feeder feed belt. It shredded, I have one coming
in today.
Their IT guy was able to change the IP address back and print to the machine. Next up the SC672-12
code. I will have a friend help me with that one just to be sure. He has more time on the Ricohs than I.
Thanks for all the help I will post the solution when I get it.

Re: MP C4503 with intermittant SC672-12 code
The last thing I did there was watch the machine.
I made some copy and a print job printed. It sat there not doing anything
for 30mins. Then it coded out. Next I disconnected the network cable.
30min later no code. I'm going back to see if I can repeat this.
Could it be it something on the network? I have an MP6002 that coded out with
a different code when someone tried to print from the internet using Explore.
