    [CQ] MP C 4502/5502

I recently replaced the fixing film in a MP C4502 and got a call just 4-6 weeks later with a print quality issue. I found toner build up on the separation plate above fixing film and this was rubbing across paper as it exited fuser. This accumulation has now damaged the fixing film. Has anyone else seen this? It is almost like the paper is buckling in the fuser just enough to leave an iota of toner on blade and this eventually will cause the aforementioned issues. Can the fuser speed be adjusted minutely? It would not take but very little change in speed to possibly correct this problem. Thanks in advance for advice posted.

how much coverage are they using? what weight paper are they using. you can slow the machine down by setting paper type to a thicker setting. not sure if that's ur issue or not. also, processed black can do that as its stacking toner on top of each other.

I'd check the paper and adjust as needed.

Extremely common fault on this range. There are bulletins with dozens of Sp mode changes and this issue is mentioned in firmware. However even when all these measures are applied this is still very much the weak area of an otherwise quite good model, we rebuild the fusers 3 times before disposing of them. Sometimes the rebuilds only last a week or 2.

Yeah very common the toner build up on the stripper plate.
These days we use the SPC830DN fuser units.(407099)
Swap over the entire harness plate(the one with the thermostats attached) and away you go.
Yes there most likely IS a shortened lifespan using the printer units in a copier but the original units never seem to make their life anyways.

As said very common on this model, very annoying, however there is a modified fuser sleeve out now and so far this one seems to last longer. We also fit a new scrapper plate with every new sleeve, they have a Teflon coating that helps to stop toner from sticking to it, over time this wears off & toner builds up damaging the sleeve as you have experienced.
