    MP2851 capacity exceeded

    Hello,

Customer with an MP2851 scan full color, 600DPI , A3 original.
When doing that he gets an error saying that there is data capacity exceeded problem.
Not sure, but is there a BIT-switch adjustment to increase the capacity when scanning large format/600dpi ?

    Thanks in advance

Are they scanning to folder or email?

Go to User Tools > Scanner Features > Sends Settings > Set compressions to their highest level, and disable Max Email Size etc.

It's been a really long time, and I may be totally off base, but as I recall, there were some functions (such as what you are trying to do) that require optional RAM to be installed.

I know of no bit switch that would resolve this.

I didn't think this machine would need additional RAM as it comes as standard with a HDD.

Is the percentage indicator on the top left of the Scanner Screen going to 0%?

Lower the DPI on the scan or try using the WIA scanner interface from a desktop which allows you to scan in a higher resolution using file formats like PNG.

Also is the memory percentage at 100% when you start the scan? If not, there is something remaining in memory from a previous scan.

I believe you're exceeding the buffer limit with that setting. There is a chart somewhere in the knowledge base that shows the relationship between resolution and scan size. I know A3/11x17 @ 600dpi is an upper limit. As others have said, max out compression and/or lower the resolution.

I think I have looked into this before and it's a limitation. Think it's in the ops manual or service manual. No A3 600dpi

Did anyone ever find this on paper? I have a customer that does not want to take my word for it that it's a limitation.

I just checked the spec section of the service manual and there's nothing written other than the max res being 600dpi.
I'll take a quick look at the user guide for you.
