    Ricoh Aficio MP C300

    This machine is giving an SC 241 error. Possibly a Laser Unit error?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

      SC 241 is the LD error (Y)
      Troubleshooting Procedures
      1. Replace the harness of the LD.
      2. Replace the laser optics housing unit.
      3. Replace the IPU.

          There is a firmware fix for this too. The Engine should be at least 1.03:02

              There is a modification board to prevent failing LSU and BCU.
              Please start you post with brand, model, problem.

                  Yes, if you replace the laser without the modification board you will blow the new laser (speaking from experience here)

                          The PCB for the modification mentioned is free of charge from Ricoh. It is a MANDATORY mod. Also, if you have experienced SC 240/241 errors you will need to replace the Laser Motor as well., otherwise the Mod will have no affect.

                              For SC241, it is recommended you change the power supply and the laser housing at the same time (mirror motor is not a service part). The Firmware helps, but is not a 100% fix. Doing the mod involving putting on extra boards and such should fix the machine for good. (Ricoh hopes anyway).

                              I have had to fix this issue on a couple of machines and it was power supply/laser housing unit. I also have done firmware. I have heard of one case of a machine that has had firmware done to it toss a SC241, so it does cut down on the occurance quite a bit.

                                  Can anyone help me get the laser unit and the additional modification board? I got one price for the laser unit and it was over $1000.00 If not I might try talking the customer into buying another machine
