[CQ] Pro C901 - Shake marks on 115g or lighter paper

Hello fellas. Long time no see.

I'm like that jackass friend everyone has who never calls but suddenly pops up when needing help.

I'm having this problem on a 901, that I can't find out what's causing it.

    12584144_1062000683852752_788737513_n.jpg

The defect happens after the leading edge enters the fuser but the area afected is not fused yet (the small interval at the left of the paper before the defect matches the distance between the fusing belt and the cooling belt).

It seems that the paper is being wrinkled just as it enters the fusing unit, but no amount of playing with the entrance guide, fuser nip or fuser speed makes any difference.

All parts except for the fusing belt are well below PM. I'm about to order the belt, but I'm still not convinced that it's causing this.

    Some more examples:

    1.jpg

Example just as the paper enters the fusing unit - the left side is fused, the right side is not. No defect to be seen.

    2.jpg

Example 3/4 into the fusing unit. Defect is visible.

    3.jpg

Close-up of the secondf example. Notice as the defect happens right after the paper enters the fuser, as if it was being wrinkled.

Anyone ever got one of these?

    Thank you!

My only thought on paper wrinkling based on paper weight is a problem with the fusing entrance guide. Either dirty, warped or mounted in the wrong position.

I've not had that on the 901's but mine don't run anything that light. Have you tried using the paper library for a similar paper of that weight???

Thanks for all the feedback. Problem is apparently solved (testing right now) after replacing these two little buggers.

        Cheers!

We have 2 pro c901's and really haven't seen that problem. All out text weight paper is usually digital paper so the text is long grain to avoid some of that.

This customer doesn't give a shit about grain direction. He cuts the paper in whichever way wastes less paper.

That's like saying you don't give a shit about what gas you put in your car, even if you're driving a car that requires 91 octane!

You're car will run like shit and know one could make it run any better with that gas!
