No, I don't work for a dealer. I'm an Indy working mostly on Kon/Min equip. Hate to turn away business when sometimes it can lead to an upgrade.
I have the 3045 SM and looks easy enough to pull the laser unit out. Was going to try cleaning the laser unit and reseat all the connectors? Are you saying that is a waste of time and laser should be replaced?
Pull out the laser unit, disassemble it, clean inside and mirror, blower it, take out the LD board you will find a sticker covering a lense inside clean it, perform SP 2-109 to adjust the laser beam pitch (described on the SM).
Don't forget the door switches above the fuser. Changing the laser won't cure the 322 if they are faulty.
There is a quick to test if the door switch is flaky. Identify the connector on the LD unit and jump it. If the code goes away, the door switches are flaky.

Yeah I've seen more dodgey door switches on this model than faulty laser.
