I bought this little TP-Link router, it is tiny & works a treat, I fitted it to an mpc305, however as it is powered by USB when the printer goes to sleep it cuts the USB power so the router turns off & the customer cant print untill they manually wake up the copier (rather than simply sending a print job) thats the only drawback.

Get one of the AC adapters for charging devices using an USB cord.

Hi yes I thought about that, but I wondered if theres an SP mode that one can set to keep the USB ports live when machine is in sleep mode?

I find that issue depends on machine type. I am almost sure that bigger machines (I mean medium speed 30-50 copies) have continuous power in the usb port. In the box you should found white in colour power supply unit.

Tp-link wr702n probes network at start. When another dhcp server acts in the network, the wr-702 works as a dhcp client and can be configured under received IP. From copier/printer point of view is transparent. Of course we talk about client mode. When wr-702 do not detect any DHCP server, one become dhcp server.

            So,
when wr-702 is connected directly as P2P (straight cable - no network), one acts as a dhcp server and your computer gets IP from. Mini router can be very easily configured.

I concur with with PPPP. TL-WR702N is a really good choice. Small, easy to configure, looks neat when taped to the side of a device. Just run in client or repeater mode and that's basically all.

I have verified usb power supply issue in the MPC2050 and power is permanent even in sleep mode. I use wr-702 and MPC2050 in my company without any problem.
