Great fix! But who changed that SP setting in the first place!
It's not an SP, it's in Interface settings.
I'm sure the answer is, the office "hero" that can't help but fiddle with things, and then NEVER, EVER admit to screwing them up! Nearly every office has one!

WOW! Major props for pulling that one out of your hat!
Who would've EVER figured that out??!
After sorting the issue I was discussing the cause with the customer and he thinks a member of staff who left acrimoniously ( fired) on the Friday maybe did it?? Who knows but definitely one I will remember
The "member of staff" would have to have very intricate knowledge of Ricoh connectivity and how it would disable the machine in such a specific and difficult to find way. This setting is normally enabled when a particularly stupid IT representative wants to print to their machine from an ipad.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Not necessarily. It can be done in user tools and, if I remember correctly, from WIM. If machine and network administrator function are not password protected, many settings are easily accessed.
