Specific user? Sounds to me like user codes are in use on the machine and the job does not have a valid user code. Often, a user that is only authorized B&W is trying to print color.Comment

Re: MPC2800 Can't Print PDF
Any idea what version PDFs they are? 1.7, 1.8, etc?
Could be the files are too old or too new to print, especially if the firmware (yet another non-disclosed topic) is too far out of date.
If you're not sure of the version, could you post a small sample file?
Any possibility of re-creating the PDF by re-distilling it?“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment

Re: MPC2800 Can't Print PDF
I'm inclined to think the single blink of the data light is an authentication problem!
If you limit the print driver to B&W only, does it print???
As far as having a postscript to able to print PDF's, the postscript card shouldn't be necessary!...I've printed PDF's from a pc to a Ricoh/Savin MFP that didn't have a postscript card!
IMO, Ricoh are lazy a$$holes who are too lazy to create a postscipt emulation (like HP and Kyocera)...in other words, they bend people over and make 'em take it up the @$$ to pay and be able to have that option!
If you need to recompile and flatten a PDF for more streamlined printing, I recommend Bullzip PDF Printer:

Re: MPC2800 Can't Print PDF
Sorry but Apple is the a-hole. What Ricoh charges is the licensing fee from Apple. As for Postscript emulation, it frequently does not work as well as true PS3. Again a function of Apple, they want their license fee.Comment

Adobe was founded in February 1982[4] by John Warnock and Charles Geschke, who established the company after leaving Xerox PARC in order to develop and sell the PostScript page description language. In 1985, Apple Computer licensed PostScript for use in its LaserWriter printers, which helped spark the desktop publishing revolution.[5]

Re: MPC2800 Can't Print PDF
I was also leaning away from it being a postscript issue because of the data light blink. usually postscipt error results in a bunch of papesr being printed out with symbols all over them the 1 blink light and nothing didn't seem like the postscript being an issue.Comment

Re: MPC2800 Can't Print PDF
AFAIK, most, if not all, newer Ricoh machines that don't have PostScript, will simply reject the PS job ( with the data light flashing a few times) rather than spit out a tree's worth of jibberish.
It kinda looks as though this thread has taken quite a detour from the original problem at hand.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment
