Re: RICOH MPC305 - Heavy Fuser - Grease for Fuser Film
The grease Ricoh sells (Barrierta JFE55/2) works but is a bit pricy. You could see if you can find a small tube of Dow Corning Molykote 41. It has a service temperature of 288 Deg C vs Barrierta at 260. -
Re: RICOH MPC305 - Heavy Fuser - Grease for Fuser Film
I replace the sleeve, pressure roller & the 3 gears as a set usually they go about 100k or 2 years
It if the fuser starts making a "farting" type noise that is time to replace the above parts.
What you don't want to do is risk the fuser drive gear wearing down, that is a big job.Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

The complete fuser is cheaper than the parts AND does not take up all the extra labour as well.Press the GREEN button!!Comment

Here is one to try. It is actually for automotive breaks but the specs are right. 500 degrees Fahrenheit is 260 degrees Celsius which is the temperature for Barrierta JFE55/2 that Ricoh recommends and sells for a ridiculous price.
Amazon also has a number of suitable greases. Just search amazon.com for high temperature grease all departments. They have Molykote 41 and 44 (200 degree C), DuPont Krytox (good but expensive) and many more.

Having used the actual Ricoh grease as well as Chemplex and Krytox, I prefer Krytox. Chemplex just seems too 'goopy', and also leaves a bit of an odour as it first heats up in a machine.Comment

You could try silicon heat sink compound. I use it to pack bearings.Comment

wow havent heard SHC used in years,
many years ago 25 plus on the anaolog minoltas they used triacs for the heat lamps and exp lamps that
you could unscrew and change but only if you applied the compound so they would kool off,on the metal heat plate..
i can remember people using MOBIL 1 but when it got hot it would stink like a chemical plant.poor customers sitting nearbyComment

I used to get it at a local electronics store but they are no longer in business.
