We have had bad luck on the gears on these. They are basically junk. Ricoh just came out with some new type of replacement gears. I have only put them on one machine and only recently, so I don't know if they will work better/last longer or not.

    I use Krytox for grease.

In an effort to spare everyone some reading time, I won't go into detail of what I think about this model, but rest assured it isn't good.

I also noticed new part numbers for the gears recently but I haven't tested them full cycles. Not shure what went wrong designing this fuser because it basicly works ok beside the fast-wearing gears. Sleeves etc. are no major issues on my end, just the gears. We also install an entire new fuser if the rollers/belt is defective.

This is the grease we use for Hot Rollers and other moving parts in a fuser! (see pix!):

We use Molykote 44. Real success story.

I generally use no grease at all on fuser gears (with just very few exceptions) just between bearing/hot roller contact surfaces. Many machines runs just fine without messsing around with grease, some seems to need additional lubrication.

Look up the new fluotribo grease VSSG9002. The price on that stuff is insane!

Yeah, I searched it. The only place I found that showed US price for a 100G tube was $412.50. And the specs put it only to 250 Deg C vs. Molykote at 288.

Yes as many others have said cheaper to fit a complete fuser than the sleeve. The gears have been modified so the fuser now goes past the PM life, over 100K cant complain about that for a small desktop model.
