    MPC 45/5503 Drum Replacements

    Hey dudes,

Is there any printer kits or different options for replacing the drums in the mpc5503s? Something like how the 811s and 820s were able to be used?

Ordering the correct Colour PCUs for this machine is pretty pricey for the pm count of 270k.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Considering the recommended color to b/w for this model, 270K on a color drums would be over 1M total copies. Also, if you have set your maintenance pricing for color copies correctly, the price of the drum would have been taken into consideration and therefore by the time you need to replace them you should have already charged the customer enough in color clicks to more than offset the cost.

Exactly as said above, also just to add we've found these drums easily go way beyond PM life as do the fuser sleeves etc so all in all a very good machine.

We have found the color usage to be much higher, almost as much as the black. The drums are lasting about 300k or so. It is expensive to go in and replace all four, but if you try to get away just changing one or two, it will bite you and you'll be back. You've also got to keep an eye on the PTR, ITB, ITB cleaner, and the Dev units. I gets expensive real quick.

Fusers seem to be hit and miss. Some are lasting a long time, others are looking whipped at 400K
Don't forget to replace the drive gears inside the fuser unit when rebuilding the fuser.

We have a college that has a C4501 That has over 600k color clicks on it and less than 300k BW. The school colors and blue and gold and boy do they eat through the cyan toner.

I order 4 black PCU's and rebuild the color PCU's with all the components for the black PCU.

So much cheaper, more man hours but you save a whole heap on parts and works a treat too
