Lightly Used MPC4503 - Steps/Suggestions prior to Deployment

Greetings All. We are receiving a lightly used MPC4503 with a SR3160, with just under 45k on the meter and I was wondering if there are any recommendations regarding inspections/commissioning/other on this line of copier before it's deployed office-wide. For example, like making sure firmware is fully up to date.

I cover mostly all non-copier tech services at the small biz and have limited experience in this arena, so I do have our local independent copy tech coming to inspect it as well, but Ricoh's aren't his primary service line (he prefers the Kyocera and Canon's) and don't want to overlook something obvious to seasoned pros.

    Thanks for your tips.

If the transport company hasn't broken anything off the machine, you should be good to go.
Plug the machine to the power, phone an ether net sockets.

Being an IT guy you should be able to:
    1. Navigate into user tools of the MFD and set the IP address of the machine.
    2. Load the appropriate printer drivers for the MFD.
(You can Download the latest printer drivers from Ricoh.)
    3. Firmware for the MFD may or may not be an issue, depending on your office requirements and current versions of Operating system.
    4. Put some quality paper in all the paper trays of the machine, press the print button, or send a print job to the machine.

If you don't have a service/maintenance contract on the MFD, may I suggest you get a reputable company to help you out.

Thanks for the quick response. Our copy tech that services our Canons said he'd provide service for the Ricoh. We're coming off a 3501 lease through Ikon and they provided all service before.

Make sure the administrator functions in User Tools are not password locked out. If they are get a hold of the sales person that you bought it from and get that from them.

Replacing a 3501 with a 4503? Wow, talk about a step backwards. Or two, as the case may be.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          Hit it.

Not sure what you're referring to. You have almost 3,000 posts so specifics?

I don't like the newer machines either. It's hard to complain about anything with the MPC3501.

We have 100's of 03's out & found them to be an awesome machine, many don't see an engineer for a year at a time, the only time I really get called out is the customer simply wants them dusted!

One thing I would check is the meter counts, they can be cleared simply by fitting an NVRAM & as the PCDU's are very expensive make sure you're happy this 45k is genuine!

I'm not a fan. Don't get me wrong, when you get one that wants to run and run well, they're fine. I far prefer the '01 model to the '02 and '03. Not seen enough of the '04's yet.

Great! Thanks folks for the info and feedback, it's appreciated. We have 500k B&W and 120k Color on the 3501 after 5 years, so not heavy usage but it was getting long in the tooth and the lease was up. I'll update my impressions once the 4503 is received and have a chance to go through it with our copy tech. We shall see...
