I had almost 40 of this type model in one account years ago. Every so often the factory will install the black mylar crooked under reg roller. The bottom of the black mylar cannot touch the metal underneath it. I used to trim it to fix issue. The paper buckle will intermittently push the mylar to wrong side of metal and cause a jam on the next sheet, especially duplex. Hope this helps.

    Good Luck

Sometimes. Some people are just a combination of terminally dumb and penny pinching at the same time.

I've seen way too many copiers plugged right into a wall socket to count anymore. I always tell them that their contract doesn't cover surge damage. Some even listen!

We have a couple of customers who are Ricoh national accounts. When they get new equipment, the appropriate surge suppressor is always included with the order.

I have one MP8001 with random J012,I tried that bulletin solution with replacing the gear on pick up assembly but it doesn't work, that is implemented in MP8001 service manual by the way.
I can't figure out what they mean by that check point on the gear,I think it's impossible for arrow and cutout to separate since they are on the same metal but I replaced it anyway...no improvement.
I kinda doubt it's related to power outlet,I'll look in to it but machine works on that same outlet for ages and nothing changed in that power grid lately.
Swapped drive motor with third pick up assembly, cleaned and oiled registration drive,I'm thinking about replacing entire registration assembly to test it.
There's MP8001,MP7500 and MP8000 in the same room that aren't jaming, all machines had the same treatment, but this one decided to be a jerk.
Gears, springs, clutches, sliders, connectors and electronics...who on earth can tell what's wrong with it?

Seems I solved my problem,I replaced entire pick-up assembly and no calls for 2 weeks,I'll go there again to replace the gears.
Kinda weird that gears got busted somehow or worn out yet there was no developer leaking.

I brought a "Line Tester" in to check the power for the machines, and I found that under a 15 amp load I was getting 6-7% voltage drop.... and under 20 amp load the voltage was dropping 9-10%. Plus there was a floating ground/improper ground impedance error on the line tester, so I'm going to write this one up as an electrical issue. I informed the customer, who then told me that the wiring for the machines had been recently "added"... and the two 20 amp devices were sharing a breaker with a 3rd 15 amp machine.

What part of "Dedicated Outlet" don't they understand??

Thanks for the input gang... We'll call it a "PICNIC" error. (Problem In Customer, Not In Copier)
Can you tell us more about the line tester? I could use a good tool like that.

The one way bearings wear out eventually. Developer leakage only makes the failure happen sooner.

pretty much every 5500 through 6000, 7000, 8000, and on through the newer 6002s 7502s etc i have had to rebuild the feed units gears over time, most of the times if from letting developer run way over and not replacing bushings in dev unit as needed, personally I tried to get techs to replace the bushings every 2 or 3 pms but it doesnt happen. I have also found in most cases if one feed unit is crap then all are crap, to many times i have techs try to swap feed unit 1 with 2 or 3 and it lasts about a week before a recall for same problem. If I have to rebuild one i do all 3 and replace dev bushings and be done with it.

Usually its giving non feed jams though not so much in registration, but i have seen developer in the registration section as well as feed units.
