Any service manual for this series dating back to a 1035 from the year 1999 (or so) would tell you this -
Re: Ricoh MP 3500 waste toner box full
If the box is empty but the display still does not clear, the sensor is bad. To turn it off while waiting for a new sensor, use SP 2960. Do not leave it off on a permanent basis unless you plan to make regular trips to the customer to empty the box.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 3500 waste toner box full
I always turn em off just check it on all visits only takes a few minutes to vac it out the sensors are too sensitive and can give false full reading even with the shitty bit of plastic they added to the blades to clean itComment

We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Re: Ricoh MP 3500 waste toner box full
If you vacuum the box at all you run the risk of creating enough static to blow the sensor. You also fill up your vacuum filter. Just dump them in a plastic waste basket liner. I have cats. I therefore have plastic buckets with lids that the cat litter comes in that 4 gallon bags fit purrfectly. Once I dump a waste toner, I snap the lid back on. Depending on the machine, I can get anywhere from 2 to 5 machines in one bag.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 3500 waste toner box full
Ricoh parts used to put parts in long plastic bags fro shipping. Those bags were ideal for the 35/45 and 40/50 models.Comment
