MP2501spf - dark grey background on rear side of copy

    Hi all

    This one has me baffled.

several field techs are reporting the MP2501spf with copies below 100k to start making a dark dirty background on the rear of printed pages with dark lines about 1 1/2 inches long and about as wide appart.

We only use OEM drums and D1589640 dev with these boxes so the plot thickens.

Firmware is the latest that Ricoh will post online so that rules that our too.

Opening the pcu reveals heaps of toner on the area around the mag roller - which in itself is odd.

I would appreciate any help that I can get, as I need to find answers as it seems to be spreading to more and more of this range of machines as time goes on.

If you're getting toner on the back of simplex copies you could try a new transfer roller. Might not be the case but an easy check.

When making multiple copies , if it happens only on first copy change developer.

It does not seem to go away. The marks seem to be consistent are gets worse.

At this stage it looks like the dev is not making yield. Will report back on the machine we have on test at one of our customers.

100K is not that unusual, all depends what the customer s is running, lots of solid black or the opposite very little on the printed page will case the machine to overtone.

Ricoh do not make very good small b/w machines, Canon & Konica Minolta do.

Not sure if you did this already but try this:

              1) Replace drum, blade and developer. Reset any charge settings that you may have changed back to normal. Then install the refurbished imaging unit and do the initialization procedure. That should correct the fault.

              2) Also check your toners! They can sometimes go faulty and cause the problem you experiencing. I would recommend changing the toner as well with a new 1 and don't forget to vacuum the waste toner out of the cleaning section of the PCU.

              3) Also, as the other techs said, change your transfer roller.

It not unusual for these units not to make it to 100k. I would say don't stress too much about that. If you got about 80k out the units its about normal.

Thanks to all for the feedback.

Will try the suggestions and report back once we have had the machine working stable for some time.

PCU PM parts are rated for 60k, PTR for 120k. If they haven't been replaced, you'll get issues like this. Also, have a fiddle with SP2303, transfer roller cleaning. Just get it to do the roller cleaning itself.

Same issue here. After somewhat prints the grey background will disappear...
But, after a while you need to go back for pm.
