    Ricoh MPc5503 and SOP V2

Looking to install a smart operation panel V.2 on a C5503, never done this before. I have all the instructions and firmware.
Just looking for reviews on the SOP. Pros and cons. Is it worth the trouble?

Like it better than the original SOP.

As far as printing from smart devices, for NFC the smart chip is in the stick on device, blue tooth is low power and very short range, internal wifi hot spot I avoid unless I want to give access to anyone nearby. I usually just have customers use their network wifi so they can control who has access.

I like to place the Classic copy function either on the Home page or one page to either the left or right. Since it has the ten key pad, it can be used access SP mode both standard and factory.

I have only had a problem with the touch screen once. Complete power down and reapply power corrected it. Tech support was saying that I would have to replace it.

+1 for classic copy AND classic scanner.
Makes training easier if you're going from an older Ricoh to the newer screen.

I read this post to mean he is going to fit the new Android panel to an legacy machine, so remove the old panel & fit an android one.
Convert an mpc5503sp to a Zsp

Never done this myself, good luck.

The customers still prefer the classic interface rather that the simplified ones. SOP looks good when you install some print management softwares due to faster boot up and faster response.
          Aye! Cut the crap

I wouldn't have thought its worth the hassle upgrading a SOP panel to a SOP V2!?

Better off just upgrading to an MPC5504!

I read it to mean upgrading standard dumb panel to smart panel. I prefer the standard panel for most applications. Smart panel is better in situations when using print management java apps.

Having both available on one model opens up the possibility of more going wrong doing firmware upgrades.

The V2 panels are for the xx04 models and above, I don't know if this will work.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                Hit it.

How did the conversion turn out?
I'm looking into this myself with the new Remote Connect service we are thinking of converting some of our 03 units from the "legacy" panel to the SOP either V1 or V2 if they'll work. V2 would be ideal. Thanks for the feedback

All turned out well, the customer loves them. The installation was easy. I would recommend it.
