Cloning won't work in general practise. SD cards have a protected area that gets some information programmed by Ricoh that can only be read and written by specific hardware. That makes a simple clone or copy onto a different card useless. Cards often get 'married' to a specific machine as well and can't be move from one machine to another either.
You are over a barrel on this one. Get a new SD or a different machine you can verify function of prior to purchase.
Edit: One additional thought. Look in and around the machine thoroughly as the SD card, if present, may be stashed in an unconventional spot. Say taped to the inside of the front cover under the jam / supply instructions.
