[Dead] Ricoh MPC 2551 Start up Error

Hello,

I got Ricoh MPC 2551 machine for Service. It was Stuck with "Please wait " message. Attached picture shows the issue.

Any help would be great.1.jpg

Turn off, unplug the HDD and turn on. If message is gone then replace HDD.

Please remove all additional services like
Fax and HDD
Turn it on
Wait ...
If you see the same loading without any change,
Reload firmware.
If you see error message try to solve it.
If it's controller error it means that the error message appears after approximately 10 minutes :-(

The MPC2551 series is a good sold machine (although old now) never really had any board issues myself, just noisy fusers & PCU's, SC400 density PCB issues.

You could try, as mentioned above, reseating the main CONT connections, ram, HDD etc.

Looking at your post you have the "independent toner" message, this can be disabled using SP5051-001 this has nothing to do with your issue however.

Your best option would be to update ALL firmware versions, see link below, unzip it to your SD card, reboot & try again.

RTB No.: RD038053 : Troubleshooting for HDD problem (SC863)
[SYMPTOM]
The "Please Wait" display does not change to "Ready" after warming up at power ON or after recovering from Energy Saving mode.
SC863 (HDD: Read error)

CAUSE
AC voltage supplied to the PSU is interrupted, causing corruption of data in the HDD. As a result, the FAX function cannot boot up.
Note:

This symptom can happen when the power is interrupted for an instant, or for a longer period (e.g. the user pulls the power cord out of the outlet).
If the power is interrupted, the area in the HDD that contains image data is corrupted easily.

SOLUTION
Follow the action by below

Remove the HDD from the Controller unit, and then turn ON the main switch.
Does the symptom still occur?

YES:
You DO NOT need to replace the HDD.
This is because the symptom is occurring due to a different cause (and not the cause explained in this contents).
NO:
Proceed to step 2


Reattach the HDD to the controller unit.

Remove the Fax option unit.

Turn ON the main switch.
Can you access SP mode?

YES:
Proceed to step 5
NO:
Replace the HDD.


DO the SP5-832-2 (HDD Formatting (IMH)).

Turn the main switch OFF/ON.
Does the symptom still occur?

YES:
Proceed to step 7
NO:
1. Reinstall the Fax Option.
2. Turn the main switch OFF/ON.


Back up the Address Book Data.

DO SP5-832-1 (HDD Formatting (ALL)).

Turn the main switch OFF/ON.
Does the symptom still occur?

YES:
Replace the HDD.
NO:
Proceed to step 10


Reinstall the Fax Option.

Turn the main switch OFF/ON.

Re-Enter the Address Book Data.
