Ricoh c820dn Tray 1 Paper Issues

    Hi Everyone!

I have a Ricoh c820dn that has started to give me paper feed errors from tray one.

Most of the time, the paper was pickuped up from the tray, and started to feed through
the printer, but only 1/2" or so is fed before it jams or no longer feeds and I get the error.

Sometimes it makes it to the friction roller (the one with a blue lever you use to eject the paper)
    and will jam.

Printer is just over 385,000 pages so I'm thinking I need a roller kit or pickup roller kit
of some kind, but I am not finding it when I search.

It has been getting progressively more common over the last month, so I believe it's a roller
    issue.

Could you guys (and gals!) let me know what roller kit I need, or any other potential fix?

    BTW, one more question...

I just replaced all the developer units (color and b/w). Do I REALLY need to
also replace the Transfer Belt? Or is it possible to clean it?

Thank you all in advance for your help! Awesome Forum!

I can clean it with a damp cloth (water) so you can remove the waste toner.

Is a cloth soaked with water your RIDICULOUS solution for everything?

Stop it! It's just plain BAD advice!

What I try to say this case that could be to not replace it because the accountant that has it is possible is not grabbing his for the right one because it says that solution that comments ...

-= do not use water on the transfer belt =- do not clean the transfer belt with anything but a " stretch - n - dust " toner cloth.

Check the magnetic clutch AX200289 if a buildup of rust is present. Hope that helps on the paper jam issue

In my experience the xx85 rollers are wearing out much faster than xx90 rollers.
If you have to order, order these:
                        AF030090 Pickup roller
                        AF031090 Feed roller
                        AF032090 Sep roller

Also, use a rubber cleaner (or alcohol) to clean the rubberized reg roller (the long black roller under the blank belt, can be gray from paper dust) and the transport/relay rollers on the feed unit and opposites.
I have replaced several paper feed units due to one way clutches beeing worn, but try feed rollers and cleaning first.

Just want to say thank you for all the responses.
I'll replace the rollers and see how it goes.

It's jamming every 3rd or 4th pages now ... ugh!
                          So no putting things off!

                            sounds like a clutch problem

Okay, I replaced the three pickup/feed rollers but still have a problem, but I have a clue NOW to what may be happening.

There is a white plastic shield that is clipped over the two rollers inside the tray compartment. What is happening
is that there is some sort of play and the plastic part that keeps the roller in place (furthest from the clip that holds the
shield in place) is working it way off the black "stem".

If I jiggle the tray two plastic shield, it does NOT manage to work itself off, but it doesn't take much "jiggling" to have the
                              tray one shield come off.

Sorry for not knowing the proper names of the parts.

I have 4 trays on the c820dn but we really only use the top two and sometimes the 3rd (I have labels in that one). Would I be able to
swap something from tray 1 with tray 4?

Someone mentioned a clutch? Is this easy to replace? Costly?

                              Thanks.
