    MPC401 PCU mod?

This may have been posted elsewhere but I cannot find it. I just started working with these and I would like to know if you can modify a K PCU for a color PCU? I ask because the part # is different but the PCU looks the same and looks like all you have to do is move the white clip in the rear to K. And, if you can mod the fuser out of a spc430dn to work. Thanks!!!!

Ok, I figured out that the fuser will work! Printer version is just missing jumper wire on Pin 2&3. and the cover (with 2 screws) beside the outside door has a notch that you have to shave off or replace with old fuser cover. Now, if I can just find out about the PCU's!

No you cant fit the K PCU as colour because these units have the dev unit built into them!

If I understand you correctly: you need to be able to use the K units in the colour stations? Like with most other colour devices, the physical drums are the same, it is the dev units that will cause you headaches.

So if you order the K unit and remove the dev unit, I am sure you can make it work?

The black PCUs have two metal pins that will stop you fitting them into the colour slots.

I haven't laid hands on any MP C401's yet. I'm glad to see they went back to the C300/400 design. I don't have many out, but they've been pretty good. I've tooled around with the PCU's and fusers a bit myself.
I've created a little cheat sheet for myself (attached). The Fuser mod is compliments of 'someone' here on CTN from some time ago that I found. I figured out the PCU mod on my own.
I don't know about the Black Drum only as Ruben talks about. I'll have to look into that, but colour to colour works
