    MPC2800

Today I've installed one of the new (well, "updated") MPC's for our showroom.

I haven't study any readings so I was surprised that this machine has a new type of PCU's and toner - what a pain in the ass. Ricoh hasn't invented a new wheel so it's basicly the same stuff but it won't be easy possible to "mcgyver" the old units into the new engine to save some money and space for your spare parts. At least it seems that it's still possible to use the BK drum units for color.

    Any other changes?

I was in a rush so not much time to check every detail. Another major difference to the MPC2500 is the fusing unit wich looks like a slightly modified fusing unit from the MPC3500/4500.

ACC has now 4 charts for printer, including a funny "9000x600dpi" resolution (doesn't look that good).

Oh, and I was totally happy that I had to preinstall 3 MP5000 for some customers..... but that's another topic^^

IF you get the chance to play around with the machine, let us know what you think of it. If it's anywhere near as reliable as most of the C3500 and C2500's have been then it's more of a good thing.

Well I can't say much about the reliability without having a machine with high volume in the field. This one was just for our showroom. But I don't expect any "unpleasant surprises" because the changes seems very minor. On the other hand - you never know what happen if ricoh is playing around with new sorts of toner

I personally like the MPC Range so far... Both of the ranges so far have proved very reliable in the field and faily strong against a bashing! I think most of us are hoping for a similar trend in reliable fusers, Drum units doing well over life and smelly dev. I got an announcement today that we're gonna start dishing these out so when I see one I'll throw an opinion up

Must be stealing engineers from Minolta

Maybe they stole the new Developer/Toner from Minolta as well - couldn't suck any worse than the MP4000/MP5000

                    ..already is

                    Here are some impressions:

Fileload.us - the fastest filehoster on earth! Free File Hosting - Your Free Filehoster!

The fuser unit isn't much different from the MPC2500 so it's not based of the MPC3500/4500 series what I've written before. There are no leaning/oil rollers installed - dunno if that is a good idea...

Another "bad idea" is the new charge roller holder. As for the "old" PCU it's very easy to clean them because you can swing them out but this new construction makes it much more complicated.

I think Ricoh changed these design points to get the real PCU/Fuser lifetime closer to the PM specifications. Another thing is that you can't use the SPC811 units anymore but I'm shure it's still possible to use the MPC2800 black drum unit also for the color units.

I might be totally wrong here, but if you check the PSG's for this updated MFP, you should find that the toners, PCU's and Dev units are all interchangeable across the whole line. Unlike the MPC2500/MPC3500, which used different drums, toners, and dev's. At least, with the new machines, you will only have to stock one type of each and not two sets of each.

I printed the PSG's early last week, and just glanced through them both, so this is why I might be wrong here. I also downloaded the update PowerPoint last week. Kinda funny, because I figured there wouldn't be a tone of slides since there probably wouldn't be a bunch of changes or additions. Imagine my surprise when I found that presentation is just over 180 slides!!

The first law states that energy is conserved: The change in the internal energy is equal to the amount added by heating minus the amount lost by doing work on the environment.

Unisys, you are in for a shock, the MP C2500, 3500 and 4500 color machines all use the same developer, pcu and developer assy. They also use the same ITB belt altho the assembly is different.
