    Re: mpc2504 gMAIL

    Hi,

    Yes, on both.

We have configured it on a Kyocera and it works properly.

As I said the only difference we can see is that the Kyocera has a function that can use STARTTLS instead of
    standard SSL & TLS.

It is a confusing machine to say the least

What we have found out after programming a Kyocera MFD, the Kyocera worked, is that the Kyocera offers SSL/TLS & STARTTLS.
Selecting STARTTLS and port 587 and all is good.

Now, I can't find STARTTLS on the RICOH. Appartently I should be using SSL, but it still fails with 'SSL Negotiation failed'.

Anybody know of any other setting with the Ricoh that they could help me with?

        Cheers
I think you have have to create self-signed device ssl certificate in order to make it work.
Log-in as admin, device management -> configuration -> security -> device certificate.
Create a self-sign device ssl certificate (I use default setting with 10 year range).
        Hope this help.

SMTP over SSL requires a site certificate not a device certificate. The first models that supported SMTP over SSL required that you install a site certificate but later models came with one installed but I have encountered problems when the certificate expires. If you have a machine either with no site certificate or an expired certificate, see the attached. How do I setup SMTP over SSL on a Ricoh Family group device.pdf

            Thanks for your reply.
I've set the site certificate with the Equifax from IE like you suggested, and no still says Authentication failed.

Checking the print out it says: SSL Negotiation failed. ERR:

We put the same details into a Kyocera TA3051ci and it works like a dream.

            Garbage!

Have you tried all three options in the link I posted earlier? It is written by Google support specifically in response to Google Suite and Google Docs user complaints about being unable to scan to email. Here's the link again. I had the same problem with your site certificate Equifax set up, expiration was good, but fail SSL negotiation.
Finally, I got it work with set up device certificate, self-signed device ssl certificate as mention in early post.
I also removed site certificate, and still work like a charm.
Only remaining problem I have is airprint not working on my MPC3003, but working fine on MPC4503 with same setting.
Both machines work fine with scan to email, using gmail account, SSL, port 465

                  Setup a new Gmail account
Turn on allow less secure apps

Just make sure that you reset only those items that need to be reset. Never do all or engine unless you have the birth certificate in your hand.

I've had a few "buggy" 04's recently, mainly new models on install, icons missing, DF jams, screen lock ups etc each time putting the latest package resolved the issues.

I've noticed when looking through scanner settings in the browser ( general/initial settings etc...)
                        at the top it says:

[Note] SSL communication is currently unavailable. The following items will be transmitted without being encrypted.

However, in the Security everthing is activated. SSL, TLS, and so on.

In the email settings I have SSL on and authentication is on too.

Do you have any install applications that use SSL? If you do, SSL might not be available for email.

I'd like to tell you that you were on to sonething here, but while I have no idea what exactly that message means, it's always there, and has never affected any of my setups, including (as I stated initially) my own MP301, which is currently configured with my Gmail account

The SSL warning message is to do with how data is transferred between your browser session and the machine on the network, in theory someone could packet sniff any folder passwords etc that you were submitting via the web browser since you are not using HTTPS, it is NOT related to SSL for email.

At this point, if I was OP, I would be clearing the scanner network memory in SP mode, as well as holding the # key before entering user tools / system settings to start from scratch there as well.
