MP-C4502 fuser pressure drive gear clicking

    Hello everyone

upon start-up and when you open/close the right door, the fuser pressure releases, then engages and keeps driving, clicking 7 times each time

i removed the fuser cover, cheated the interlocks and watched, pressure is applied, flag goes through fusing pressure release sensor but the motor continues driving causing the clicking sound

checked SP5-803-92 fusing pressure release sensor - open/close right door, sensor goes from 1 to 0 to 1 and the pressure drive motor keeps turning, 7 clicks

checked the pressure drive motor & gearbox, all OK

i'm guessing this is a firmware issue? if so, i have the firmware & an SD card, but the manual says i need the following, which i don't have
    from the manual:
    1. if the SD card is blank, copy the entire "romdata" folder onto the SD card (i don't have any folder named romdata with the firmware and no idea what's in that folder)
    2. If the card already contains the "romdata" folder, copy the "D144" folder onto the card (i also do not have this D144 folder nor know what's in it)

if the card contains folders up to "D144" copy the necessary firmware files (these i have)

if anyone could please help, with either technical advice or those two folders, i would be most grateful

p.s. also need to know exactly which firmware to update (system/Copy? Engine?)

    thanks in advance

When this happens on a Toshiba eS4555C it usually means that the photointerrupter has enough fuser oil dripping from it that the optical path is distorted. I soak out the photointerrupters (3 of them on the Toshiba), then brush out the optical slit with a toothbrush. Once dry it can be re-installed. Naturally there are plenty of other reasons that the photointerrupter might not work: heat fatigue, harness issue, connector issue ... but it's usually the oil. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

File structure on the SD card:
      EXAMPLE
      Correct: romdata (folder)
      D144 (folder)
      D144*****.fwu (firmware files)
There may be additional folders in the romdata folder. The letter and first three numbers should match the product code for peripherals. There should be only 1 file in each peripheral folder. There should not be any other files or folders on the SD card.

easy enough to make folders named "romdata" and "D144", but what goes in them?

              Hi there!
Try this one, the number of the gear is the same for APOLLO & ATHENA.
              Greetings...

Just ran into this same issue. Did the firmware correct your problem?
                Thanks

                  Yes it does.

Or you can change the SP1151 xxxx manually.
