    MP C3003 scan to email.

I have two MP C3003 with the exact same set up. Both are on the same network, STMP server info, current firmware, and same scan settings. My issue is that one takes longer to process a scan. Customer likes to use max settings, so on one machine, scan takes 5 sec to process and, on the other, scan takes 15 sec on avg. Both email scans are completed, so no errors message are noted on Print list log.

On the slow machine, I have replaced Ethernet cable, used different port on the switch it is connected too, used different SMTP server info with same results, did scan app memory clear, and re-seated HDD and DIMM memory card. Tech supports says there is nothing wrong with machine and IT says nothing wrong with network.

My next trip to my customer, I will be moving machines around to see if the problems follows. Really don't want to do this because this will take down two machines while I am troubleshooting.

Any ideas on the cause and a fix?

    1. Email Scan size DPI setting.
    2. Email divide and send size.

check to see what scan ratio (DPI) is set at and if they are using full color .. these settings can make a WORLD of difference in time of scan

Also check the ethernet setting 10/100 1gig enabled/disabled etc

You say "Customer likes to use max settings" 15 seconds to scan a file over 400dpi is to be expected!

Sound like network settings are OK
          look at dpi
          scan in black or color
          compression to same?
          etc.....
Every worker scans a different doc with different text/pic
as long as it works whats the problem?

If IT has a problem ask it every pc they have boots up at same speed?

If it works don't brake it.

I like Notrons idea of swapping the machines around to see if the problem moves, that will narrow the problem to the machine or to the network.

Thank you for everyone's help. The customer likes there scanner setting at 600 dpi with auto color select. I have varied these settings and the process time does change. But, since the customer wants max settings, that is what I use for troubleshooting. All the Ethernet settings on both machines are the same.

Dropping the dpi to 300 and turning off auto color did not make any difference? It should, less data sent = faster process time.

Have their IT department ping from a laptop to the smtp at the MFP connection and check the reply time. With a little luck it will show a difference and you can put it back on them.
