need some advice please.
apologies in advance as I know there has been some chatter about this problem and I cannot seem to solve it.


Has anybody managed to directly do a scan to Gmail on a MPC305 or MPC307?



Thas has beaten me to a pulp! .. cannot find a way without using a mail forwarding service.



there is no Start TLS option in the smtp settings.



All the firmware is up to date.



I can get it working fine on a A3 machine MPC2503 but these little mfps from Ricoh are doing my head in!



Any advice please as starting to measure the window to see if it can go out that way!

Log into gmail from a pc to make sure credentials are ok. Leave gmail open on pc while you input credentials on the MPC305. Turn off email reception interval. Also change protocol (smtp to pop3) just in case. Set auto specify to on. Try to send an email from the copier. You should get a notice on the pc (gmail) about a log in attempt. Make sure you have turned on access to less secure apps. This usually works for me

Wow ok. So you say you have another Ricoh at the same site & that scans using the same gmail credentials fine?

This rules out the network.

Every MPC305 I set up via the machine (panel)
So next time you go back delete all info & start again.

Get a network config page from your working Ricoh & enter these into your 305, including the IP address (power off 2nd machine)

Infront of the machine enter all config under file transfer tab check that administrators email is the same as your gmail address.

Try a test scan, if this fails log into the gmail account & check it has not blocked your 305 as a unrecognised device

Gmail often block newlyadded devices, if so I get a txt message looking like this:

Google blocked someone with the password for scansxxxxxx@gmail... from signing into the account. Learn more: google.com/blocked

Yes know this option but the customer does not email to Gmail accounts. The prob is they had a Develop mfp before and scanning to email was ok until they changed to a Ricoh, As they are used to scan to email thats what they want.
we have set up scan to folder as a temp solution but scan to email is what they want. Customer is always right!

Your best option then is to contact Ricoh customer and put it in the hands of the product manager.

If all else fails, setup a free smtp2go account and use the smtp credentials in conjunction with their gmail account. It always works.

*Note: Assuming this is a smallish office
The free account allows up to 25 uses/ hour or 1000 uses/ month

There is also setting a local relay such as stunnel.

True, but smtp2go doesn't require any program installation, or that a specific PC remain on for it to work

I set up a free SocketLabs account and the customer got the account suspended as they sent more than the 2000 scans in a month.

Looking into a SendinBlue account, payed for and that way it will be a Ibuprofen solution for us.
