Ricoh SP C420DN Error code SC270

I've worked with the b/w Ricohs lot, but this is my first color model.

I have a new C420DN that came in DOA with error code SC270. I can't find anything on it here or elsewhere. Does anyone know what this error code is?

I would just send it back, but I need it to work quicker than an RMA will take.

    Thanks

    Laser unit shutter error.

Fairly minor fault as far as errors go.
Worst case scenario would be if the shutter motor and sensor ass'y needed replacing.

        270 LDU shutter error

        270 LDU shutter error
        [D] Sensor output does not
        change even if 1 second
        passes after the LDU
        shutter motor is on.
Sensor defective or LDU shutter motor defective

        1. Replace the LDU shutter sensor or shutter motor.

First thing check the shutter, sometimes they just get stuck. Second check the spring attached to the shutter. Thats my two cents good luck

Sorry to be a PITA but can anyone tell me the part numbers for the shutter motor and sensor, or even where they are found in the manual???

I don't have access to the part numbers at the moment, but I can almost guarantee the problem is with the shutter stuck/bound up - not the motor/sensor (but there is that small chance). The printer may have taken a jolt during shipping.
It's very easy to remove the laser, just remove the electrical board unit (basically the back cover with 4 screws, the board is attached to it). The the laser unit can be slid out by pushing the 2 tabs (watch the harnesses, there are 2 attached to the iob on the side you may have to unplug first.). The shutter is attached to the top of the laser.

Yeh mate, had the laser out last week. Ricoh said to take shutter off and code will never come back. Well, it did come back, everytime. Put shutter back on and all was fine for a few days. Have double checked all slides, guides and spring tension. All seem fine. Really need to find these part numbers. This bloody manual is gunna do my head in.

P/N for motor is G1022985 and for sensor is GW020020.You can find the parts in the registration section of the manual.
I have see the same problem twice and the problem was that the motors gear was not engaging good enough with the feelers gear(bended bracket maybe). The assembly is the same as in spc 410.
