[Error Code] SC 572-00 on MP5502

Having some issues tracking down this code. On certain screens it is 572-02 and other's it is 572-00. This occurred after two sheets of paper were found baked around the fuser roller.

Dirty/contaminated thermistor and pressure roller. Clean or replace thermistor and pressure roller and clean thermopile lens.

      Pressure temp not reaching target.
Either the thermopile is dirty or the center thermistor needs replacing.

We cleaned the lenses, but disassembling the fuser unit was beyond our ability, so we sent it to the technician who refurbished the unit for repair.

We had a tech come in, but he said various motors are broken and need to be replaced and we were able to determine from the 572-02 this was a temp issue, so we assume this was not a correct diagnosis. When the error code is cleared the machine starts normally and sounds normal until it throws the code again after a short while (fuser unit cool to the touch).

BTW any advice on selecting a competent tech?

I dunno, a location would be nice. Maybe you should not have blanked your entire profile.

Not asking for a referral... just general traits, training, etc. Probably too vague to answer - but thanks for your interest.

Maybe you should try correctly providing correct information. To begin with, your title says MP5502. Now the question becomes are you actually working on a Gestetner 5502 B/W, MP C5502 color or an Okidata MPS5502. If you don't fully complete your profile, how are we to know if you are located where regional climate might be factor.

                1. You can't edit the title (I tried) and no one asked or seemed confused.
                2. For security reasons I cannot tell you my location.

SC 572 could mean that the thermopile needs to be replaced, not just cleaned

That's is why you have to pay attention to what you are doing when posting.

As for your location, If I were to say that I lived in Ridgecrest, CA, that in no way would say that I worked at China Lake Naval Weapons Center.

How hard would it be to call the local Ricoh dealer?

                            • Defective thermistor
                            • 1. Clean the thermopile lenses.
                            • 2. Replace the thermistor at the end of the pressure roller.

SC 572 has absolutely nothing to do with the fusing unit. It is an exhaust fan error.
