[Jamming] Ricoh MP 7001 jamming just before the fuser

I have no experience with this model, but my boss has a friend that just had this machine shipped from Dallas to Houston. It's in pretty bad shape. And for some reason there are two more years left on the lease. I have straightened out and cleaned up everything I can see. The machine now comes to ready with the fuser unit turning during warm up. My problem is that it passes paper up to the fuser, but the fuser won't turn. So it jams right at that spot before the fuser but past the drum. I don't have a book and have never worked much with Ricoh machines. I gather from my boss that there is more at play if I can get this machine to work. Any help with this would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Check the entrance plate of the fuser if there's toner stuck there.
Also, check that the transfer band turns continuosly when paper goes through it.
Check the jam code in service mode for better reference.

There can be multiple reason for it to jam. Each one has its own jam code, J XXX, where XXX is a three digit number.

          i agree wth gear too.
Take a sheet of paper and turn the knob,if paper does not get pulled in it is the upper fusing roller gear.

Great information. Thanks guys. I do not know how to enter service mode on any Ricoh much less where and what to look at. But I will have a look at the moving parts described as well as write down the jam code(s)(didn't while I was there late on Friday). A place to start. Thanks again.

Make a quick search in this forum or google, enter in SP Mode on this machines is very easy.

Take a look to Service manual before visit the customer about how to dissasemble fusing.

if you are a tech or former etc etc, taking apart a ricoh b/w fuser is "CAKE".
Upper plastic gear breaks often and sometimes LFR having massive flat spots causes
                UFR to
                "bounce" and not turn softly..
