Ricoh 2022 fuser toner build up

I have posted this at another forum but no viable solutions

Still have 2 of these 2022's that will build up toner on the heat roller after only between 1,000 to 5,000 copies.

Have replaced heat roller, press roller, and clean roller and thermisters with OEM parts. (also swapped ENTIRE FUSER from a working machine, problem still recurs)

Using only OEM toner and PCU

Could it be fuser temp adjustment up or down? (currently set at default like all my other 1022' and 2022's in the field).

    What am I missing?

Have you tried different Copy Paper ? I have many of these Machines with the Temp at default and have not this problem !
The only time I have experienced this is when Customers have either copied Pages from Magazines or constantly Copy with Top of Machine up !

If you have swapped the fuser and all fuser settings are default then I reckon its not the fuser that's the problem.

Could be overtoned, has the customer used non oem toner with the current pcu? this could be will be contaminated now if they have.

try a stop copy and check to see if the toner on the drum is very thick.

What are the sp2 settings? are they normal? could any that are marked dfu have been changed? they must not be changed.

I had several machines do this and never did figure out why. Try hooking the pressure roller springs on the second (higher tension) notch - this adds a little extra flex and grind and helps make the paper polish the roller. Don't expect the fuser life to be normal, but it should be better.

          HI,
2022 and other similar copiers have identical looking fuser rollers. Make 100% sure you are using the correct fuser roller!!!

Also, check the temp settings. Temp too low will cause toner build up.

            thanks for the ideas.

yes, I replaced the fuser rollers with the correct OEM rollers TWICE, and swapped out the entire fuser from a working machine.

I have now increased fuser temp from 165 to 175 and will see if that has any effect.

(and also only using OEM supplies including toner and PCU)

See if client is using any pre-printer forms or ncr. Pre printed forms especially from inkjet printers will deposit its ink on roller and attract toner.

I have seen the same thing in the field on this model when the customer runs jobs consistantly that have a huge amount of print involved. Using a crappy aftermarket toner will also decrease fuser life. If the customer has the fax option installed they may be leaving their machine on 24/7. They need to turn it off and on daily to run process control and prevent overtoning

Or leave Auto Off enabled - the fax module stays awake to receive faxes. Ditto Print Controller

                      Really?

                      decreasing the temp solved it?

Lucky for me (sarcasm) I have 2 machines doing it and I have increased the temp on the first one, now I will try to decrease the temp on the second and see what they do.

thanks again to all for the suggestions!
