Mp c4503 voids in black /cyan/magenta

copier has less then 60,000 copies on black and color.

i received this copier has voids in black and cyan and magenta copies . Yellow is ok. I use edit/color function and used background in copy mode to make solid copies and tested each color. i look at this and try a piece of paper to push void out of dev. unit and you can see were voids is and it moves. old units could take top cover off to get in push them out. can you do the same on this one.

Try a transparency...it's stiffer than paper but won't scratch the mag roller.

Yes two screws & you can take the dev blade off, usually you can then remove the hard lumps causing the deletions.

        Okay....

Place a couple of A3 sheets of paper on the bench top. Wind the dev roller backwards and dump half of the developer out of the dev unit onto the A3 sheets of paper. Using a magnet screw driver, touch it on the dev lumps to remove the unwanted lumps off the empty dev roller.

When all the dev voids lumps are gone from the developer roller, place the dev roller over the mound of dev and wind the developer slowly back inside the developer unit. Repeat it again for you . Wind the dev roller slowly forward while picking up all the magnet developer material off the A3 sheet of paper, which will put the loose dev back inside the dev unit. Take your time you don't need to rush putting the magnet developer onto the roller as you turn it. Avoid over doing it to avoid heaping excess dev on the roller at one time.

The whole process above should take you 5-10 mins to complete it in total.

I find the best results by pouring the whole developer through fine sieve.
Best way to get rid of those lumps.

I use a set of cheap plastic "flour sifters"
I put two together to make it a finer sift.
I have a mpc3003 that i need to do this on a cyan dev unit but have done this process on the mpc 2800 to mpc 3002 series.
Does the dev unit lid on a mpc 3003 separate?
I have yet to muck wth that dev unit but need to too.

We also use transparency to remove those dev lumps. But make sure to check your toner as well. This problem usually starts when 03 toners are caked.
              I hate those machines

I just had some voids on a mpc 3003 with 80k color count and unit came apart very easy.
I dont touch doctor blades as i always worry i might change the "gap" and the top plastic lid with 4 "stays' is easy to lift
to open unit.It also has some small dimple on front n rear to pry b4 lifting up.
I dumped most of the dev on to a few 11by 17 sheets and then thru my double flour sifter onto clean paper and
                back into dev unit.
                Maybe 25 mins top.

You must replace the offending dv unit. nothing else works

if you have to i would just dump all the old developer out 1st and install a new bag of developer.
I find it hard to think a fairly new dev unit has failed when one can see the dev brush has thin voids from clumps.

Does your 03 series have a separate developers? Not in our region. We are planning to use the 3002 developer in a 3003 development unit for testing. Anyone else tried this?
