aficio 1045 jams on every SECOND copy

Ricoh aficio 1045 jams every SECOND copy. Read the fix at the end of this post or enjoy the story.

Really weird problem. After the first copy comes out machine goes into a normal "Ready" state, when I press the "Print key" to make a second copy it jams right at the fuser sensor. After clearing the jam, again, can make one copy, the second copy jams again at the fuser sensor and in the exact same place. I replaced the sensor and checked the solenoids and gates for free movement. It never jams on the first copy and I can never get more then the first copy after turning the machine on or after clearing a jam.

Since I posted this problem I am glad to tell you that I's been solved. I would not believe it myself if someone just told me that replacing the Fuser section assembly solved the problem. Just to make sure I put the old Fuser section back in and the machine started to jam again exactly every second copy and exactly in the same spot by the fuser exit sensor. Strange.

I think I remember someone saying about two tiny pads in paper sepration unit that cause a problem like that.

Over time the junction gate can start sticking to these pads.

Maybe someone else can clarify, as I could be incorrect.

Thats what it sounds like to me, the gates are not resetting properly. Pull the scanner and clean the area by the solenoids where the pads were.

Another fuser exit jam fault resolved:

I had a machine that jammed just below the fuser exit sensor. After replacing the sensor and tearing off the solenoid cushions, it still jammed.
I finally fixed it by sliding out the fuser and cealing the little cut-out in between the middle seperators. This is where the senor in the invertor shines onto and hey prosto! fixed.

Your original jamming fault was caused by a worn pressure roller, that's why it sorted the fault when you put a new fuser in it. Worn press rollers on the Adonis causes mental jamming faults.

An anti-static brush not making proper contact with the hot roller can cause this also.
Don't take that toner with me!

There s a sensor that could easily be missed upon servicing the machine...on the right hand side cover just above the transfer unit is a black guide ...on that guide there s a sensor that could give hassles due to paperdust or heat from fusing...all depending on the ammount and age of the copier...
