Is VT the best setting to check on a mpc 300 toner problem?

    Hi
I have to go thru a mpc 300 i got with 500k black and 12k color where all the color units are undertoned
and blowing dev codes. If I run forced toner/only color and check VT reading before is that a good indication of toner reaching the
    dev unit?
I cant see all 3 toner pumps/motor failing at once.
I saw the bulletin for baD/MISWIRED TONER motors but if it ran 12k it must have been working..

I haven't worked on Ricoh in a long time, but it seems more logical that the color developers are dying due to lack of agitation/use. No setting is going to correct this, but changing developer will. As far as I can tell, the developer does not come separately, but with the developer assy.

I know that you don't want to buy the parts, but it's really the only way. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Those units may be old enough to be afflicted with an issue where the colour developers will become depleted of toner in low colour use environments. The issue is the process control is executed periodically, which consumes toner, but the machine does not check or adjust toner concentration for process control. Toner concentration is checked only during colour printing / copying, so repeated process control checks without colour output being produced ends up using all the toner in the developer and none is added.

Try updating firmware if you haven't yet. Getting the customer to accept that a colour machine is intended to produce a minimum ratio of colour to black and white might be tough but is truth.

        Thanks
this unit is a lease return i got a month back but only dabbled in what it might need.
I normally dont resell MPC 300 wth 500k but the color count was super low and i really
have a ton of spare parts and dont need to gut another mpc300.
I think i will split the color PCDU and check how the color developer looks,if it s
clumpy or very low on developer i will swap out all 3 color dev units and recheck.
