    Missing Scanner Function

Our intrepid IT department have managed to lose the scan function on their MP C3503 and they have no idea how they did it. It's just not there, no icon on the screen, no folder in User Tools, no folder in SP mode and no sign of it in factory mode either. Even tried to clear it out of the memory with 5801-9 but it just says "Invalid Function"
Where the hell have they put it??

Had the scanner disappear on a different recent model and it turned out to be hard drive corruption. No HDD codes and all other functions worked fine. Was weird.

That's what I was going to say: on Konica Minolta products the first things you lose are Scanning, Faxing, and User Boxes when the HDD fails. Those functions are not visible anywhere when the HDD is failed or UnSet. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I think Zed is correct. If HDD is disabled or inactive by any chance, scan function does not work at all. Try formatting HDD but be careful you will loose all inf. stored.

Thank you Gentlemen, some useful replies. I'll try another HDD and see what happens.

If the HDD does not fix it, look for the SP Mode Application Invalidation. I can't remember the exact SP though.

I have d this happen before. It was an SP setting, but it's been so long I can't remember which. If you have a SMC report from before it quit working you might want to compare with the current.

strange problem, I also happened to me on another model, I solved with sp 801-009, try to format sp 832, or try another disk on fly

                            SP5895-02 did the trick.

I will be now holding a Court of Enquiry to find out which of the IT plonkers decided to turn that on. Water boarding may be involved.
