    I have a dumb question regarding SP5801

    Greetings.
I never play wth memory clear and know one should never do sp5801 001 unless a smc sheet is printed first.
What does sp5801 002 engine reset?
I was trying to figure which sub code resets any user codes settings and or security lock down settings.
    thanks

Here is what I use when erasing previous users info off of a Savin/Ricoh machine.

5846 -50 Address book initialization Clears the address book to include the user codes

5801 -011 NCS (Network Control Service) Initializes the system defaults and interface settings (IP addresses also), the SmartNet Monitor for Admin, WebStatus Monitor settings, and the TELNET settings.

5832 -1 HDD All Formats the HDD, does not clear User Codes, Erases the Document Server

All the things you need to have from the birth certificate or SMC report when you do 5801-001 in order to get it printing correctly.

Run full music after an engine clear...I've seen it blow away line adjustment data before.

Thanks, corrected. Had troubles formatting after a copy and paste.

Yes. Pretty much the same thing. 5801-01 just does all of them at 1 time. 02 is the killer....

That might be true for a B/W but it is a whole new ball game when it comes to a color unit. It will require manual color alignment just to get it to where force line position does not fail. If you have never done one before, it can take 4 or 5 hours.

I used to clean up & send out a lot of 2nd hand MPC2551 Models I did an all clear on every one never had any issues also on a few Metis models.

Well if you like living on the edge and are willing to live with the consequences when it all goes horribly wrong. At the moment I have two MP C'03 in the workshop that don't even know their supposed to be a photocopier just because a tech got a little over enthusiastic and thought a memory wipe would solve their problems.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

Just to confirm - what Slimslob says is true. A SP 5801-001 (Memory All Clear) WILL create a boat anchor or a glorified B&W copier out of a Colour copier if the Non Default settings are not re-input. I'm not sure what "Copier Tech" is referring to about executing SP5801 and not having any problems?

Sounds like you need the panel config that we made for a tech here who likes to brick machines by loading the incorrect firmware
