          I had an SC878 on a C4503 that was caused by some bad firmware on the Ricoh website.

          I had to install JUST the "System/Copy" file of the previous version of firmware all by itself in the romdata folder on an SD card.

          If you don't have access to Ricoh firmware, you may be looking at replacing the main controller.
