Hi, All. I am attempting to update java on this little printer with no success. I have downloaded the java file, unpacked and attempted to run the "update to xxx" file. I get the cmd line window, then I input the correct drive on my PC where my card is at, "F" in this case. THEN it says cant find the piecemark (I don't even know what that is)./ SO, I see there is a piecemark finder located within the java files. I attempt to run it and the program crashes. WTF. Can anyone shed some light on this malfunction? I have updated Java on other equipment with no issues. This should be easy.

Re: 5300DN JAVA INSTALL
I think "Piecemark" error means you're using the wrong Update Tool. Make sure you've got the right one for the model you're updating. -

Re: 5300DN JAVA INSTALL
The way I'm reading the manual, it says that you need to update the VM card. Here's what the service manual says...
For the SP5300/5310 series, updating Java VM is performed with PC using the update tool.
Prepare the following items in advance.
SD memory card reader/writer
PC
Updating flow is as follows.
1. Deactivate the SDK applications with Web Image Monitor.
2. Remove the VM CARD Type P8 from the main machine.
3. Update Java VM with PC using the update tool.
4. Install the VM CARD Type P8 to the main machine.
5. Activate the SDK applications with Web Image MonitorComment

Re: 5300DN JAVA INSTALL
Ok, after reading the Ricoh version upgrade tools document, I am pretty sure I was using the wrong tool to do it. I appreciate all the responses. The printer will go out as is. I don't believe Java will come in to play in the environment it is being placed at. Everyone have a great weekend!NEVER ASSUME ANYTHINGComment

Re: 5300DN JAVA INSTALL
Simply disable if you won't be needing it. Java reduces the boot time of MFP devices.Aye! Cut the crapComment
