[CQ] Ricoh MPC5000 uneven density on prints/copys

Got a call for PQ and ended up replacing both BK Drum and Dev units in this machine. After doing so the PQ was better but Copies still came out light (mostly at the top) And Prints are light and grainy all the way down. I've only seen this happen on copy's when the scanner bed got bent out of alignment with the optics. but I don't know what could be causing the prints to come out the same way. I've cleaned glass and mirrors as well as swapped out the transfer belt and roller with little to no change. Adjusting the density on the panel doesn't seem to help either plus running Force add toner only makes its smear. Colors and effected also.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Please and thank you!!

      Page count is 228,000
Fuser is at about 70% left
      Color drums are at 20,000
      BK and Y are new
      Color developer is around 30/40,000
      Transfer belt is original

Have you cleaned the laser shield glasses? Have you checked the laser shutter, if it is still installed?

Change orientation of paper to see if it's the same issue being repeated. I had a similar issue like this. I replaced the ITB unit and drums. Turned out to be the Transfer roller not being seated properly which caused one area to not have proper print.
If it works, don't touch it.

A bit late but looks like PTR fault to me ie not enough spring pressure against ITB, worth a look.
Also PTR box (if old type) rear pin broken at pivet point, common fault again causing light pressure against ITB belt.

hmm, being a model not very recent, makes me think that even if it does not have many prints, the mc was installed many years ago, it could be the mirrors of the polygonal engine, which tend to get more dirty on one side, producing clearer prints on the one hand, but I would not put my hands on the fire, since on those models the laser box is sealed well, is it a dusty environment? or maybe they smoking heavy cigarette or whorse (LOL) near the mc ? I do not remember if on that model there is a sliding metal curtain that covers the laser glasses, if there is maybe not well flowing on one side (?)

Thanks guys this was a big help! I ended up taking a second look at the transfer roller Ass'y and the front frame was really beat up on the back side of the MC. I replaced the front cover/frame of the ass'y (D025-6282) and popped a new transfer roller in and it's back to glory!

Yup. Repaired the frame and put a new roller in and it prints/copies beautifully.
                          Thanks again for the help!

the new transfer (modified/updated) roller housing comes with a metal plate at front, and a metal pin at rear - common problem with these housings. Though Ricoh does not supply the required screws for either the front plate nor the pin - need to take those with you

as an interim repair, i use large paper clips, shape them as required, heat with a lighter and melt into the plastic to reinforce, clamping them before they cool with long nose pliers - i've had these last for many months while waiting for replacement parts - as a general rule, a new secondary transfer roller is not required, it is the housing which causes the secondary transfer roller to not seat against the ITB correctly

the rear locating pin i glue with supaglue to hold into place and again use 4 paper clips bent into an L shape, melted in, to reinforce
