Re: Scan to email problem on MPC4503

    thanks
    all good info..
I went yesterday and got it working but it was odd as doing it using WIM and copying and pasting
the gmail address and password failed when i scanned but worked when i did it from OP PANEL..
The customer has been informed that i redid this as a favor free of charge but future issues will be billable..
My way of how most customers see scan to email is like faxxing, just add the address/tel# and send..if only

The name is the hostname of the device.

There are a few settings on the scanner screen and within scanner features to customise the email

most likely they have programmed settings on the scanner screen, you can restore this to default and see if that resolves it.

As I understand the issue, the customer wishes to send email from the MFD, an to identify that email as coming from the SHIPPING department of the company. I haven't worked with this model machine specifically. Below is a few ideas that may help identify the MFD origin on the email printout.

              Re. DHCP Network.
              1.)
If your customer is using a DCHP network, you should be able to change the MFD host name from "RNP002673B7E02D" to something like "SHIPPING_PRN". If the customers network firewall/server has a host name white-list, you may need their IT to rename the MFD white-list name so the MFD can once again access the DHCP network.

2.) The customers IT could also create a new email account for the MFD using a name like "SHIPPING_PRN@anywhere.com". Use the new email account in the MFD as the host/admin sender-receiver account. All sent email printouts will contain the senders address "SHIPPING_PRN"

3.) Does this model MFD allow for signature text on out going mail?
If so, maybe you could set up a signature text block with a "SHIPPING_PRN" text heading. Emails will printout with a signature block "SHIPPING_PRN"

4.) Some other ideas, which require IT programming and email forwarding.

Don't forget to power down the MFD to initialize the new email and network settings.

If you are referring to what I think. according to the scanner Quick Reference Guide to set subject before scanniing:
                Press [Options]
Select [Attach Subject} and press OK
Type the desired subject and press OK
                Press the [Escape] key
This will set it for the next scan. To save it as the Default, before hitting [Start] press [Program] then [Save as Default] and follow on screen prompts. Note, All current scan to email settings will be saved.

In WIM, go to configuration. Under Scanner send settings, there is an option for "default email subject." You can select either hostname or a manually entered text.
