    MP 6001 with exit jams

    greetings.
I have this mp6001 that was giving random duplex jams and now it is jamming 014 as the paper exits 2/3rds out.
It is random but i tried different paper trays and pulled the drum, cleaned the sensor near the reg roller, all fuser sensors and had recenly change LFR/UFR
and all fuser gears.Lead edge is spot on.
It looks like the exit motor is just stopping??

Check the guide plate between the fuser unit and the duplex unit. Its the one that flaps back and forth when you pull out the duplex unit. There is a pin on the shaft that keeps the guide plate snug when its in the close position. Sometimes the part that the plate meets with the pin cracks and causes the paper to misfeed on the way out.

    Good luck

Re: MP 6001 with exit jams

Is there a second sheet of paper that is just exiting the fusing unit? J014 is a lead edge fusing exit jam. Fusing exit sensors have been known to fail intermediately from prolonged exposure to heat.

it is usually one sheet 2/3rds out,no oddities and 1-2 sheets near the transfer belt.
if it didnt reset jam i thought bad sensor but it resets and will run..
I never had a exit motor go bad and i am replacing this box in 24 days when i can get into the building on a
Saturday,it s in a very busy area nr 911 museum..

if it has 3 mil or more i would replace the transport belt. it could also be the drum seperation claw unit.

wondering is there only motor for fuser and exit?

                X3 for the exit sensor.

BTW, does it happen on all trays? Quite odd but I had martinis giving wrong paper jam code but the culprit was the paper feed unit gears.
                Aye! Cut the crap

I've had this issue also, just before i lost the client due to this problem.
                  I never solved it.
I've tried every trick in the book (and from this site)
                  Good luck!

Flag. In fact if I remember correctly it is a reed switch with a magnet on the flag end.

                        thanks
i ve seen the flag itself go where it gets a cutout over time on some older high speed sharps.

you are correct it is the old school reed switch..
I am talking about the one mounted on the fuser unit itself at the entrance..

I have noticed significant less jams if the rear panel was disassembelt.
Probabely due to better air transport.
Even dough all filters were cleaned or replaced (very important).

I cant chance some poor secretary having her hand eaten up when she goes to grab something that might have fallen..
I am going back wth reed switch and transfer belt as i saw mention in GG about transfer unit could cause it.
